Myrex Industries and general contractors Satterfield & Pontikes Construction were recognized by Engineering News-Record (ENR) Regional Best Projects 2025 in the K-12 Education category. The winning project was Freeman High School for Katy ISD in Katy, Texas. The Myrex team is extremely proud to have been part of such a great build and grateful to Satterfield & Pontikes, Katy ISD, and all project partners for their trust and collaboration. 

Project Overview 

The Freeman High School project was part of a 2021 bond that was approved by voters to address the issue of the rapidly growing school district. The 650,000-sq-ft school opened in August of 2024 for the 2024-25 school year and can accommodate 3,000 students. Myrex contributed 3,368 tons of fabricated structural steel for the project that supported the expansive auditorium, athletic, and educational spaces.

The ENR Regional Best Projects Awards is one of the most respected award programs in the construction industry. Projects are judged and chosen using a 5-prong judging criteria, which includes teamwork, safety, innovation, craftsmanship, and design. There are 18 project categories.
