Communities across Texas have seen record-breaking and rapid growth in recent years. With the influx of new families moving in from different states, new housing, and economic growth in the area, Liberty Hill ISD in the Central Texas region is among these fast-growing school districts. In just five years, the school’s enrollment increased by over 100% going from 4,878 in 2019 to 9,820 in 2024. Because of the rapid enrollment rate and the school’s commitment to providing students with quality education, the district officials knew that more space would be needed to house the bigger student population. The construction of the new Liberty Hill High School began in 2023 and is set to open in August 2026. The Myrex team is proud to have been selected as the steel fabricator for the project.
Liberty Hill High School Project Overview
Myrex Industries provided 1,919 tons of steel for the build. Some elements are prefabricated in our shop while others are assembled on site. The new Liberty Hill High School will be approximately 454,00 square feet and have a capacity of 1,000 to 1,200 students. The area of the building that houses the classroom will be three stories and connected to an auditorium with a fly loft. The campus will also include a large athletic area with two practice gyms. Joeris General Contractors are leading the project as the general contractor.
Providing Structural Integrity and Longevity
Safety and protecting the students is the first priority when it comes to schools. Steel provides a strong, durable framework for the building. This helps reduce injury due to building damage. Structural steel also provides the strength needed to build large, open spaces like libraries, cafeterias, and gyms. Steel is corrosion-resistant and can withstand many environmental factors.
Supporting Sustainability Initiatives
Steel requires less energy to produce because it is a recycled material. This makes it eco-friendly and helps support sustainability and green initiatives. Steel is also a low-maintenance option and very durable. This means that less materials will be needed for repairs in the future.
